Maik Novotny studied architecture in Stuttgart and Delft. He has lived in Vienna since 2000 where he writes about architecture and urban development, amongst others, for the daily newspaper Der Standard, and the weekly magazine Falter. He is co-editor of the book Eastmodern about architecture in Slovakia in the 1960s. In 2017 he conducted research in London as a Richard Rogers Fellow of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
