Anne Peters is the Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, adjunct professor at the University of Basel, honorary professor at the University of Heidelberg and the FU Berlin, as well as the William C. Cook Global Law Professor at the Michigan Law School. She was a member (substitute) of the Venice Commission (European Commission for Democracy through Law) for Germany (2011-2015) and a legal expert for the Independent Fact Finding Mission on the conflict in Georgia (2009). The focus of her current research is international law, international animal rights, global governance, as well as the status of the individual in international law.
