Tore Tvarnø Lind, associate professor at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen, works at the intersection between musical anthropology and music history. His primary research is on the musical tradition of the Greek Orthodox monks at Mount Athos (Northern Greece) in its spiritual and historical context. He has also published on music and neo-spiritual healing practices in the Copenhagen area, and is doing fieldwork in the Danish extreme metal and hardcore scene focusing on themes such as intensity, vocals, and sound metaphors. His research interests include music torture, and the relations between music and censorship, blasphemy and violence.
