Silvia Fehrmann is a literary scholar and translator. She has been the head of the Department of Communications at Haus der Kulturen der Welt since 2008, where she has been in charge of the Cultural Education program since 2012. She worked as a journalist and cultural manager in her native city of Buenos Aires, taught at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and worked at the Goethe-Institut there. After working in New York as a cultural correspondent for Argentinian media, she was the head of public relations for the Volksbühne on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Berlin from 2004 until 2007. She is the spokesperson for the Rat für die Künste Berlin and a member of the Historical Advisory Council of Berlin.
